As you all might have already found out, by being at Muslim Moms Cafe, that this is a very friendly place. Everyone is here to help support and encourage each other, to learn to become better moms, and more importantly, to be better Muslimahs. We love each other for the sake of Allah(swa) and we help each other in hopes of gaining reward, InshaAllah. This is a great opportunity for all of us to make a strong and thriving online Ummah. What a blessing it is to be able to make a difference in someone elses life just by coming to this forum, sharing your life's issues and caring for others concerns. Since this is a forum based on Islamic principles, I thought it would be best that Guidelines were placed to be followed by all members.
General Guidelines that must be followed by all Members
(We reserve the right to change or add to these rules at any time)
1. Introduction Required- Everyone who joins the forum is required to post an introduction. It is a great way for us to know who you are and for you to become comfortable with the forum.
2. Minimum Posting- You are required to post at least 3 times each month, until you reach 50 posts. After that 1 times a month is the requirement. The reason for this is because we need to know you are indeed female and you have good intentions. Also, we would like this forum to be active and a good resource for all the Muslimahs here. The only way that can happen is if we all contribute to it. Those who do not post, their membership will become inactive and the Administrator needs to be contacted to get it activated again.
3. Respect for ISLAM- At all times Islam must be respected. Any slander or posts which portray Islam in a negative manner will be deleted. Any anti-Islamic links or members who either post or have anti-Islamic links in their profile will be banned. For those wanting to debate Islam there are plenty of other forums out there for this purpose.
4. OPINIONS vs FATWAS It is important to state whether what you are saying is your opinion or fatwa. There are many people that are reading your posts (including non-Muslims), so it is important that you state clearly what is according to Islam and what is your opinion. When presenting a controversial point of view, identify whose view it is. For example, if it is your opinion, you can begin with "in my experience...." or "IMHO "(in my humble opinion). If it is a view of someone elses, you could state "according to...",
5. Source Must Be Posted-Anything that you state as according to Islam must have a source posted with it. This way we can see where you found your information from. If the source cannot be guaranteed by Administrator to be reliable, then it will be removed and it will be stated that it is the opinion of the member.
6. Rudeness- Personal attacks, swearing, and disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances. MashaAllah, we dont have to worry about this since the sisters here are so wonderful towards each other.
7.When You Dont Agree- Please ensure that you use wisdom and kindness when offering any advice. If you do not agree with something that somebody is doing encourage an alternative approach and mention the advantages of such an approach, but DO NOT criticize what somebody has done.
8. PUSHING AGENDAS - Pushing an agenda /group /newsletter /website /personal brand of Islam is not allowed. This is a friendly forum where sisters can find support and receive encouragement.
9. QUOTING - Don't write a message where the quote is longer than your post. We all have read the thread. There is no reason to quote the whole other person's posts. The only reason to quote is if you are addressing a specific point or sentence, or want to bring up the wording for some reason.
10. CROSS-POSTING - Do not cross-post the same message/idea across all the forums. This is against the rules, but we are adding it here to emphasize the point. Find the most appropriate forum and post it there. Posts made in the wrong section will be moved to the appropriate section. This makes it easier for members to find relevant posts and to look up topics that are of interest to them.
11. SUBJECT LINES - The "Subject" line - - tells what the message is about. It should be suggestive enough of the contents of the message to enable a reader to make a decision whether to read the message based on the subject alone. Also, you or someone else who may need that thread in the future will never find it if the subject is trivial.
12. SIGNATURES - Don't use large signatures that fill half a screen! The same people, for the most part, are going to see your signature each time, and the more they see of a large signature, the more you are going to annoy people. If graphics and HTML are used, try to keep your complete signature under 10K in size. Be considerate of those with slow dial-up connections.
13. CAPS & BOLD TYPE- It is a good idea not to use ALL CAPS. IT GIVES THE IMPRESSION THAT YOU ARE SHOUTING! Try to avoid using all bold type. It can become very distracting to the other members who are viewing the topic.
14. Spelling- It is a good idea to check your spelling if you are posting to a discussion board before posting. It will be the first impression you may make on someone. It will also allow others to understand you better.
15. Its Not Private- Remember that whatever you post to a newsgroup or discussion board is public. You never know who might read what you posted. Others may copy it and send it to others. This is not always a bad thing, however. Messages received in e-mail or from
Muslim Moms Cafe message should be considered private and not shared with others or quoted without permission.
16. No Replies- Dont get offended easily. There are some very helpful people on the Internet, and also some very busy people. So don't get offended if you do not get a rapid reply.
17. Defaming MMC- Any Member who purposely defames MMC on the forum or elsewhere on the web will no longer be a member here. It makes no sense to talk negatively about a forum while you are a member of it.
This will also prevent problems on the forum between members who do not agree.
18. Non-Muslims- All Non-Muslim females are welcome on the forum as long as they also follow the rules and post in their signature that they are "Non-Muslim". This will help avoid confusion on the site.
19. Posting--Any posts that are just basic chat, such as "Hi"," Thank You", "Goodnight" will be removed. These posts do not belong on the forum and should be placed only on the MMCSpace pages. These posts hike up peoples post counts unnecessarily and are unfair to the rest of the members who earn the post counts.
20. Avatars--Any avatar posted should conform to Islamic standards of decency therefore please refrain from posting avatars showing male or female awra, anti-Islamic material or anything else that could be considered offensive. Please use your common sense when posting avatars and keep them at a reasonable size.
21. Posting Pictures--No pictures of MEN or of people that did not consent to having their pictures on the forums. Please see: http://muslimmomscafe.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20383
22. Negative Posts--No negative posts are allowed on the forum. IF you have any issue with anything, you must either post me or any of the moderators. Otherwise you will be banned for a time.
MuslimMomsCafe.com takes no responsibility for posts and views expressed on this forum. We make no guarantees that information posted on the forum is accurate and would encourage individuals to research matters independently.
